During the initial stage of the rug production process, we will discuss with you the required dimensions and designs you might already have in mind. You are welcome to share photos of the rugs you like or describe your preferences in terms of the theme, patterns, and colours.

Shape and Size

Our rugs come in all shapes and sizes - rectangular or round, narrow or wide, small or big. If you have an awkward nook in your room, we can match it. If you have a fireplace and would like a custom cutout in the rug around it, we can do it.

We will carefully guide you through the measurement process to ensure that all the provided dimensions are correct.

Weave Specification

Once we finalize your rug design, it’s time to choose the weave. In the world of handmade rugs, the weave simply refers to the number of knots tied per square inch of the rug.

If you aren’t sure what weave to choose, don’t worry: most of the time, the patterns and design of your rug will dictate the optimal weave. As such, smaller patterns require higher knot counts, while large open areas or larger details will look equally good with lower knot counts.

Colour Choice

At RugCraft Company, we use 100% New Zealand wool yarn, which is available in an impressive variety of colours. Even if we don’t have the exact shade you are looking for, we can likely recreate it by weaving together several yarns of different colours. We can also create fascinating brindled and stippled effects: this is done by blending together yarns of similar shades.
